The Wynola Estates Fire Safe Council (WEFSC) was established with the goal of helping southern California communities become more fire resilient. This is achieved through a variety of projects and programs to preserve natural resources, wildlife, and homes in the event of a fire. Founder and native San Diegan, Coko Brown moved to Wynola Estates in 2011 and has since seen great success in her nine years developing the nonprofit organization. Recently, she has extended her efforts and developed two outreach programs.
Coko’s latest program is the Fire Safe Landscape Demonstration Gardens, which educates communities on fire safety through garden landscaping. The San Carlos Community Garden offered Coko a space to design and install a garden using fire-resistant plants and fire-safe planting zones. In order to educate the public on the different techniques used, Coko began her research to install an interpretive sign in the garden.
“During extensive research on the internet, I came across the Pannier website. I was immediately struck by the beautiful examples of signs they had produced and was exactly what I was looking for. I had talked to other companies and Pannier’s professionalism, knowledge of their products, and customer service were way beyond anyone else I spoke with. The choice was easy.” —Coko Brown, Founder, Wynola Estates Fire Safe Council
The garden project was complete with a Pannier Gel Coat Laminate panel placed into a Single Pedestal exhibit base. The Low Profile Post Mount uses a metal sleeve with pre-drilled mounting holes, allowing the frame to be mounted securely over a wooden post provided by the customer. Single or multiple post configurations are available giving this base a unique look with multiple textures, perfect for an interpretive sign in the beautiful garden landscape.
“From the very first conversation with Robin, I knew I had found the right place to produce my sign. The process was very easy. Robin was always there to answer any questions I had at any time. The proofing method was great and I was able to see the sign before it was printed. Additionally, I was able to choose the frame color with actual swatches of the powder coat colors. The turn-around time was very reasonable and everything promised was delivered. The packaging for shipping was top notch and my sign arrived in excellent condition. The mounting was a snap thanks to the way Pannier has developed a system that just plain works. The real highlight, the sign is beautiful! Everything I could have imagined and then some. Pannier’s pricing is competitive and when you consider the 10-year warranty on the sign, it’s also very reasonable. I look forward to producing more signs with Pannier.” —Coko Brown, Founder, Wynola Estates Fire Safe Council

“It is my hope that the information on the sign will inspire people to prepare for fire in their homes and landscapes and ultimately help the entire county to be better prepared to handle the inevitable fires that can and do occur in the area.” —Coko Brown, Founder, Wynola Estates Fire Safe Council
