Located in southwestern Pennsylvania, directly east of Pittsburgh, the Conemaugh River Lake is a 70-mile long tributary home to the Conemaugh Dam. The Conemaugh River Lake includes a celebrated recreation area that attracts both locals and travelers looking for outdoor adventure or a quiet escape. There are many recreational opportunities and historic resources to explore, as well as a wide variety of Pennsylvania wildlife to see.
Park Ranger, April Richards, created a unique vision for the lake’s Wildlife Viewing Area – a place where visitors could “size up” to the incredible animals that roam the surrounding areas. After seeking out a graphic designer in the National Association of Interpretation (NAI) Green Pages, April was introduced to the Pannier Graphics team, who would make the vision a reality.
“We wanted a unique educational display for park visitors of all ages to enjoy. These signs are replicas of different wildlife that can be seen around our property including bears, eagle, osprey, turkey vulture, red-tailed hawk, and Canada goose. Visitors can walk up to each of these signs and see just how they compare to each species.” –April Richards, Park Ranger, USACE Pittsburgh District
Pannier Graphics understands that each project is one-of-a-kind and not all signs and panels are designed to look the same. Cut-to-Shape custom panels are the perfect way to add a personalized and interactive element to a park or recreation area for viewers to enjoy. Pannier Graphics’ durable Fiberglass Embedded material allows for panels to be cut to a variety of custom shapes and sizes. Cut-to-Shape panels are especially popular for zoos, museums, and children’s nature trails.
“This project allows us to educate people about local wildlife through interactive displays. Most people do not have the opportunity to have a close encounter with birds of prey or predators. These custom panels give our visitors a chance to relate to each of these species. Any member of the visiting public can come to Conemaugh River Lake and check out these signs near our Wildlife Viewing Area.” –April Richards, Park Ranger, USACE Pittsburgh District
With the ability to work with customers from the inception to completion of a project in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, Pannier Graphics has the capability to bring custom projects to life.
“From beginning to end, Pannier has been an outstanding group of people to work with. They have been friendly, helpful, and professional in every sense of the word. I really enjoyed working with them because these signs meant just as much to them as they do to us. It was a great experience to pick the signs up from them as well because we got to meet everyone that was involved with the process. I felt like there was truly a personal touch to our project.” –April Richards, Park Ranger, USACE Pittsburgh District
