Paula Norman, a librarian in the Tomahawk School District, installed twenty new StoryWalk® Exhibits this month. The Herb Kohl Foundation honored her leadership and innovative teaching this year with a grant, and Paula used that grant to continue giving to her community in a big way. These StoryWalk® Exhibits were installed at the elementary school playground where children can enjoy them during recess, and families can use them all year long.
“Our school is in a small rural community in Northern Wisconsin. Here, the school is a cornerstone of the community and literacy is a big part of a successful community. Families use the school playground year-round so I wanted to promote literacy while families were using the playground.” – Paula Norman, Library Media Instructional Technology Coordinator, Tomahawk School District
Paula did her research before taking on this project and came across Pannier Graphics. Pannier stood out to her because the durable and long-lasting StoryWalk® signs would be able to withstand the harsh winters of Northern Wisconsin. As she worked with us, she found we were able to provide other value as well.
“A customer service representative answered my questions and provided me with more information. When I was ready to “commit” the representative was most helpful and helped me with my budget. I was impressed with the communication I received from start to finish.” – Paula Norman, Library Media Instructional Technology Coordinator, Tomahawk School District
It was a delight working with Paula on this project. As a librarian, she is looking forward to sharing stories with her community with these signs. This month she began using the newly installed StoryWalk® Exhibits and displayed the book, “Pumpkin Circle: The Story of a Garden, by George Levenson.”
“We took our first classes out to the StoryWalk® today and they were so excited. The best part is we will update the signage monthly with a new book. My dream came true.” – Paula Norman, Library Media Instructional Technology Coordinator, Tomahawk School District
