Earlier this summer, Walnut Middle School partnered with Pannier to create a memorial sign dedicated to their late Coach Larry Dillon. The school’s football stadium is named after the influential coach and the sign is proudly displayed at the entrance in his honor.
This project was led by Eon Lemburg from Walnut Middle School. Eon and many others were positively impacted and inspired by their coach’s great teachings and wisdom, compelling them to forever display his legacy with a sign.
“The purpose of this project was to rededicate our football field to a legendary teacher and coach who had passed away. Our football field “Larry Dillon Field” was already named after him. We had a large wooden sign that read “Dillon Field” and when I heard the news that Coach Dillon had passed away I worked on getting the original sign dedicated and donated to the family promising them that I would create a new sign for Coach Dillon. I spent several months reaching out to individuals who knew Coach Dillon and from there I created a write up.
The importance of this project brought the entire community together. We had individuals come from all over town and the country attend his funeral. When we rededicated the field to Coach Dillon we held a gathering in honor of him. There we had family of Coach Dillon, friends of Coach Dillon, and past students/athletes of Coach Dillon attend and be part of the ceremony. Several even decided that they were going to “walk a lap” in honor of their beloved coach. The project brought people together who they hadn’t seen for a while. It was a proud moment for our school, Walnut. It was a proud moment for the family, friends, and former students of Coach Dillon.”

A Rail Mount was utilized for this project which was attached to a metal fence around the stadium. Rail Mounts are the perfect choice for mounting signs to existing structures such as fences, without having to use additional space or obstructing views. Pannier takes pride in having the capability to customize every sign for each individual installation method. Whether the sign is going on a rail, fence, or any other existing structure, Pannier’s fabrication department creates the sign so it can be easily installed as soon as it arrives.
“The process was seamless and very easy to do. I never once felt like I wasn’t supported by Pannier. The design team was phenomenal as well. I originally was going to hire the design work to be done by Pannier and when I submitted what I was thinking they advocated for me to use that. Which we did. The product itself arrived in great shape. The packaging was very well done and you can tell that Pannier takes A LOT of pride in their work.
Pannier is a top notch company and I am very happy to have worked with them. The project alone was not just a “project” but it brought the community together to celebrate, and remember an individual who put an imprint on the lives of everyone he knew. It was apparent that he was a beloved individual and one that will be cherished forever.”
