On May 11th, 2024, the grand opening for the USS Albany Memorial Park took place in Rensselaer, New York. The purpose of this ceremony was to commemorate those who served on the USS Albany CA-123 over the years and to highlight the ship’s rich history.
An Upright exhibit base finished in Guam Gray
The USS Albany CA-123 was a United States Navy Oregon City-class heavy cruiser that was launched in 1945. The ship was used for many years along the East Coast and for cruises to the West Indies. In 1958, the ship was converted to a guided missile cruiser. Eventually, the ship was re-commissioned as the USS Albany CG-10 where it spent many years visiting foreign ports of friendly navies. The ship continued to be modified and used for many additional years until it was sold and scrapped in 1990.

The intent of this project is to honor all of the veterans that so proudly served from the City of Rensselaer, & Rensselaer county NY. The Pannier Account Manager was easy to work with. This project consisted of an Upright exhibit base sign powder-coated in Guam Gray, featuring a Fiberglass Embedded panel. Pannier’s Upright frame style was the perfect sign choice for this project due to how it stands out at eye level, attracting viewers to it and helping educate them of the memorial’s significance. Additionally, the Guam Gray finish on the Upright gives a similar look and feel of the color of the USS Albany ship that it is dedicated to.
