Interpretive Signs Share The History Of Battle Of Raymond

Friends of Raymond partnered with Pannier to order a brand new set of Gel Coat Laminate Panels and additional Double Pedestals for their existing display at Raymond Battlefield Military Park.
Client: Friends of Raymond
Location: Raymond, MS.
Products Used: Double Pedestal, Gel Coat Laminate Panels
The Battle of Raymond was a Civil War Battle in 1863 near Raymond, MS., fought by roughly 15,000 Union and Confederate soldiers. The Union was battling to take control of Vicksburg, a strategically important Mississippi River city. The end result of this battle was a victory for the Union, resulting in around 1,000 casualties total between both sides.

The battlefield already had existing signs that had become worn over the years, prompting Friends of Raymond to reach out to Pannier to order durable replacements. In total, they ordered thirty-five Gel Coat Laminate Panels to replace the old ones in their exhibits, along with an additional five new Double Pedestal Exhibit Bases. The Gel Coat Laminate panels stand as the perfect choice for this application due to their ability to withstand the harsh UV rays Mississippi experiences. The purpose of these markers is to educate people on the history of the battle and highlight the archaeological work that was conducted on the battlefield from 2011 - 2016.

The marker panels were written and designed by a longtime member of Friends of Raymond, thus, saving design costs and allowing all of the money to be directed to the manufacturing process.  This resulted in more markers for the money, and there were enough funds to have the two trash receptacles at the Walking Trail mounted on reinforced concrete pads.

Raymond residents and visitors may now enjoy a fresh new face on the forty interpretive markers depicting both history and nature courtesy of Friends of Raymond and its supporters from around the country.
