The Nottoway Indian Tribe of Virginia, Inc. is an organized Tribe of Nottoway Indians who live in the traditional territorial area of the historic Nottoway Tribe including, Southampton County into Surry County and the Tidewater region. It is important for the Tribe to tell their own story through different outlets, so they partnered with Pannier to fabricate a series of interpretive exhibits.
“The outdoor interpretive exhibits are an expansion of the educational history presentation offered at the Nottoway Indian Tribe of Virginia Community House and Interpretive Center. The exhibit allows us to share information, even during the hours when the Community House is not open.” —Lynette Allston, Chief, Nottoway Indian Tribe of Virginia, Inc.
The Tribe worked with Pannier to design and create a variety of interpretive exhibit styles. Two Single Uprights, two Cantilevered, and one Triple Offset exhibit were fabricated for the new outdoor display. All of the exhibits include Fiberglass Embedded panels and one of the Upright exhibits has an aluminum Brochure Holder attached to store pamphlets and additional resources. The different styles allow the Tribe to offer outdoor presentations and discussions with groups who visit the Community House.
“After comparing various companies to find the one that matched our needs, Pannier offered the design options, various outdoor signage styles, and quality construction that we desired. The staff was attentive and helpful throughout the entire process. From design submission to receiving the exhibit, the process was easy and efficient.” —Lynette Allston, Chief, Nottoway Indian Tribe of Virginia, Inc.
Pannier’s Double/Triple Offset exhibits allow you to connect multiple information panels at an angle. This structure allows you to surround a user with important information about one or more exhibits. In addition to panels, Bulletin Cases can be integrated into these units. For example, on the left you can have an interpretive panel, telling the history of the area; on the right, a Bulletin Case for posting updated trail maps, important safety notices, or other changeable information.
