The Arlington Heights Park District (AHPD) is a public park and recreation agency located in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The district is a suburb of Chicago and has 58 beautiful parks spread over 715 acres of land and 16.2 square miles. AHPD recently completed a park redevelopment project and further enhanced the spaces with colorful new park signage.
This redevelopment project restored native plants to the area, which naturalizes the parks and protects people and wildlife by preserving a healthy environment. The Arlington Heights Garden Club, Scout groups, and environmental volunteers joined forces to plant a variety of native pollinators. These pollinators promote the repopulation of bees, butterflies, bats, and other wildlife, all while improving the quality of life for the community and beautifying the spaces.
Visitors to the parks often inquire about the vegetation and the new park signage educates the public on the species of flowers and plants used to restore the greenspaces. The signage also highlights the many volunteers who participated on planting day and the generous grant from Commonwealth Edison’s Openlands Green Region program that made this project possible.
The AHPD staff worked with Pannier to design and manufacture Fiberglass Embedded panels and Traditional T exhibit bases. This exhibit base style displays the bright, bold panels at an angle to attract visitors as they walk through the flourishing gardens and not obstruct the view.

Parks and green spaces, whether they are national or local treasures, require signs and panels that clearly communicate while fitting into the beauty of their surroundings. Whether the panels are interpretive in nature, or simply provide information and directions, they will educate visitors for years to come.
